Community Helpers: A highlight for students each year is getting to know some of our local police officers and firefighters. We enjoy getting to view the vehicles they use each day on their jobs. They remind us how to stay safe each and every day.

Hummelstown Community Library: Located at 200 West 2nd Street, a short walk from Learning Express Nursery School, the library is the monthly destination for the 4 and 5-year-old classes. Each child is allowed to check out one book and the children's librarian presents an appropriate monthly program.

Shepherd's Closet: Located within Trinity United Methodist Church, the Shepherd's Closet is the Hummelstown Community Clothing Bank. In lieu of teacher gifts, many donations are made to the clothing bank by LENS families in honor of their teachers.

Hummelstown Food Bank: Located in Zion Lutheran Church at 100 West Main Street, our community food bank is a close neighbor to LENS. The closeness makes it an easy walk for the 4 and 5 year old classes when delivering food donations from LENS families in lieu of giving gifts to their teachers.

Hummelstown Halloween Parade: Since 1996 LENS has participated in the Hummelstown Halloween Parade with a float full of children dressed in theme attire. Each year parent volunteers plan, prepare and participate in the parade float. A teacher liaison works closely with the parents helping with suggestions and supplies.

Theo's Foods: Located at 119 North Duke Street, Theo's is the local Hummelstown company LENS uses for its spring fundraiser. Families are encouraged to sell several items in support of the nursery school.

Scholastic Book Fair: The book fair is presented in the main hallway of LENS. The Book Fair takes place the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving. If the amount of books sold is great enough, LENS receives a percentage which is in turn used to acquire a birthday book for each child enrolled in the nursery school.

Giant Food Stores A+ School Rewards Program: With the A+ School Reward program, our school earns cash each time you shop at any GIANT store using your BONUSCARD. This is a no-effort, no-cost way to raise money for our school. You must re-designate your card each year. Designation cards are available at LENS or at GIANT or at www.GiantAplus.com. The program number for LENS is 02300. Remember you can designate up to two schools in case you have children attending other schools in the program.
